| Background Information | The Campaign for the North was a pressure group seeking the devolution of power to the north of England. Such plans were overwhelmingly rejected in the referendum of 2004. The body should not be confused with the Campaign for a Northern Assembly. Source: Barberis et al Encyclopedia of British and Irish Political Organizations 2000 p71 |
