| Background Information | The Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) is "an alliance of companies, NGOs and trade union organisations working to promote and improve the implementation of corporate codes of practice which cover supply chain working conditions". Established in response to increased consumer demand for safeguards and minimum standards for production workers, particularly in the developing world, the ETI builds consensus amongst its partner organisations regarding best practice, and encourages companies to adopt its code minimum standards in their supply chains.
