Description

The National Trust presently retains its own administrative records, witch consist of: Annual Reports, Central and Regional Committee Minutes, Correspondence Files, Records regarding to all aspects of The National Trust's history.

 

The UK Web Archiving Consortium is archiving the website on a regular basis.

Access Rights

At present the Trust has no search room facilities and most access is restricted to members of staff. According to Cook 2006: "All the Trust's administrative records are subject to a thirty-year rule of access".

Some records have also been deposited in the Public Record Office in Northern Ireland (see related collection). Several local branches of the national trust have deposited their records in local archives. A complete list of the Archives which have received records from those branches can be found on the NRA website (searching by keyword: National Trust in the organisation index) "Estate papers of properties which have passed into the care of the Trust are not, however, kept at the head office but are either retained at each site or have been deposited in the relevant County Record Office.
